Parental Leave Policy
Covered in this policy
Responsibility
Etch’s parental policy is equal, regardless of age, gender, sexual orientation or marital status. We have a single policy for maternity leave, paternity leave or adoption leave.
After 1 year of working at Etch, employees will qualify for Enhanced Parental Leave (EPL).
Those first few weeks and months with a new baby are tough and wonderful and you should spend less of them worrying about work and more worrying about nappies and dribble.
Employees will qualify for EPL if they have completed 1 year at Etch by the expected week of childbirth.
- Up to 52 weeks leave
- 13 weeks full pay
- 13 weeks half pay and Statutory Maternity/Paternity Pay
- 13 weeks of Statutory Maternity/Paternity Pay
- Optionally up to 13 weeks of unpaid leave
Payment period
Enhanced maternity/paternity pay will be paid monthly, on the same schedule as the employee's normal pay.
There is no clawback clause on Etch maternity/paternity pay. We want you to come back to work because you like it, not because you are in a debt contract.
Flexitime
For the first 8 weeks of returning to work, you can work from 2+ days a week, allowing you to get back into the swing of things. Add days as you feel comfortable. Employees pay will be adjusted based on the number of days worked.
Reduced hours
After the first 8 weeks of returning to work, you have the option to do 4-day weeks for up to 52 weeks after your initial return to work. If this falls during summer hours, employees will still be required to work a 3.5-day week. Pay will be adjusted to 80% of full.
